Social learning has become a buzzword in the workplace learning space, and every other organization is claiming to have “social learning” as a part of the mix. One cannot inset social learning in the training calendar and feel happy about it. Best practices no longer suffice.

Traditional training departments cannot build courses fast enough to keep up with the speed of change. Service industries challenge workers to acquire tacit knowledge — the kind of know-how one learns on the job, not in the classroom. The 20th Century was the great age of training. Trust.
