When John Shaw of BravoSolution reached out to us with a recorded Prezi presentation he made with Camtasia Studio , we were pretty impressed by how informative yet fun his video was. It seems like a broken record, but John and his colleagues are great examples of this tip in action. Then we make a storyboard to plan how we want the video to look and feel. My post on 30+ ideas for portfolio samples can give you some inspiration if you need to create new artifacts. Tools for creating samples. Prospective employers expect to see a few samples using standard tools. If you storyboard and plan before you start your trial, you can make several samples during that month. Camtasia and Lectora are also options. I find those sites generally limiting and unprofessional, plus it can be challenging to post real samples.

For example, let’s say a client asks me to convert an existing full day training program to self-paced e-learning. Storyboarding: 11%. Storyboarding is 11% or about 42 hours. I’ll use 45 hours for this example. That actually seems a little low for building in Captivate or Storyline, based on my experience, although I’m assuming for this example that the course relies heavily on templates. I’ll assume 10 hours for this example.

Make a storyboard. Get feedback on your script and storyboard. It’s not necessary at all in most training videos, for example (except maybe in an intro/outro). White-balancing can help offset a yellow light while recording, for example. For example, you can use a clock wipe to show time passing. Camtasia lest you import footage, edit the way you want, add animations, titles, and more, then share easily.

Below is an example of a shot list: Begin by organizing your shots based on the shot location. For example, if you were going to be shooting a scene at a lake for the beginning and end of the video, you’d want the shot list to indicate that when at the lake, you need to capture all of those shots. Even though you will not be filming in order of the storyboard, this makes filming much more convenient.

Make sure you clean up your history, past projects or Camtasia Library so it doesn't show information you want to keep private. If you forget something and it ends up in your recording, well, that's where the blur callout in Camtasia Studio comes in handy. :-). For our Camtasia Studio screencasts we set the desktop color for our videos to RGB of 51, 51, 51. Script it out - Ryan Eash shared an example of one of the scripts they used in a recent project.

We’ve written a lot on this blog about the importance of pre-shoot preparation, such as scripting and storyboarding. the real-life setting you’re given to work with looks nothing like your manager-approved storyboard? If you show up to film in a wooded setting and it looks like a suburb, you can be proactive (see Tip #3 for an example). Use these photos to build your storyboard with. It also showed me how powerful Camtasia can be when I put it through its paces.

Before you get started… Spend time preparing for creating videos by laying out a storyboard of what’s going to happen in each video. You should trim away excess footage, for example, the start and end of a take. For example, if you’re training learners on how to use a software product, bring up a screen capture of performing each action within the software itself. Video is a really effective eLearning format.

I’d love to see vendors have the mouse highlights over the term layers, actions, objects and so forth, so that the course builder could see what the terms mean – examples an added bonus. . This is just a short sample okay mid-sample of the every day feature sets. Listen, the games are not going to be the stuff you see when you buy a popular game app, or play on XBox, for example, but they are getting better (for the most part).

I imagine in order to create an effective animation video, you kinda have to storyboard it out, and like think about characters to put in there.
