You can do this by using tools like Camtasia or QuickTime (you may need to download a plugin to record both audio and video). To trim the video you can use the editing functionality in screen capture tools like Camtasia. If you use a Mac, you can use Quicktime or iMovie. My advice is to balance convenience and cost.

We regularly speak about the importance of proper planning for eLearning programs. If you need to simply trim some fat from a video you can easily get away with using ‘free’ tools, like Quicktime or Movie Maker. We also use Camtasia, predominantly for screen capture. Export in Camtasia. Software options. Transitions.
