Gave an example of faculty handbook created with wiki (using MediaWiki). They get complaints that their website information is out of date but that the wiki information keeps changing. Wikis make it very clear who did what–always a problem with group work for grading. Wikis have more work application for students too.

Like I said a few posts back, we are at our worst when we try to create our own learning system thingy. However, OpenAcademic is not about an enterprise vendor riding the latest trend. This will make for a significant update.

If LMSs are going to survive, they’ll need to change drastically. If I want a great wiki platform, I’m going to download MediaWiki or DokuWiki (also free and they have huge support communities).
