However, there is fear of what might happen if value cannot be shown, so instead of evaluating how training improves performance and contributes to agency mission accomplishment, they select metrics that are easier to demonstrate. Results of an informal December LinkedIn poll indicate that companies haven’t mastered this. Don’t let irrelevant metrics be distracting. For example, many organizations fixate on Kirkpatrick’s levels of learning measurement. My primary metric is that I listen intently to the conversations that go on.
