We’ve used Elluminate as our webinar system. Communicate all of the details in great detail. Thanks to Scott Skibell , we recorded the sessions directly off the web, i.e., outside of Elluminate and he produced great recordings. Prepare for technical issues and decide what you will do about them. It has issues with firewalls.

Just saw this : Earlier this month, Microsoft announced it was finally adding voice capabilities to its Live Communication Server. This makes me wonder what these systems will start to look like in a couple of years and whether folks like Elluminate will be able to compete.

Communicate = Ning. Connect = Elluminate. Flat Classroom Project : comes from the idea that we have an ethical responsibility to teach people about different cultures, but it’s hard to do that if students aren’t actually interacting with people from other cultures. Collaborate = Wiki. Create = Video.

Webinar tools include Elluminate (now known as Blackboard Collaborate), WebEx and Adobe Connect all of which have similar screen topographies and perform similar functions, but all have an associated cost. Webinars could also be conducted on Skype which is currently free, but quality may be more variable using this tool.
