The other day, I discovered an interesting article, Presence Pedagogy: Teaching and Learning in a 3D Virtual Immersive World , which describes an educational approach for conducting a learning event in a virtual immersive environment. Flying around in VirtualU: Sense of space is important in virtual learning environments. As the abstract to the article indicates: Presence Pedagogy is a way of teaching and learning that is grounded in social constructivist theory.

The proliferation of so-called rapid authoring tools over the last few years has coincided with an explosion in the number of online courses developed in-house. In tandem with this trend, though, has been the increasingly familiar cry of “It’s not interactive!&#. Increasing the number of clicks required to view the content does not make it more interactive.

I have spoken several times on transformation learning, and a few years ago actually brought out a book about the transformational power of ICT in education.
