However, being involved in an e-learning community is a big help. For me it is a blog community and following many experts on Twitter. Many of the blogs I follow are part of the eLearningLearning community. This is in reference the immense and rapidly expanding technology tools.

Lectora , Articulate , Captivate , Rapid Intake ProForm , and many others are great tools. All of them have really great support communities to help you get started and all of them have trial periods to get your feet wet. One of the biggest discussions in the last couple of years is around informal learning or social learning.
