Some people might convert their PPT to a video (it can be done) OR they have that production facility and shoot their own high quality videos OR they purchase 3rd party content video courses. With Video Learning Platforms – video can be what the consumer market identifies as video (usually the case) and yes, equally screen recordings.

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. The latter is slowly gaining speed, which is an advantage to LMS vendors who have a CAT in their own product – which is SCORM,PENS/IMS compliant. SaaS – while desktop still rules, SaaS is slowly gaining converts.

It may be in the form of training manuals, on-the-job-guides, compliance documents or information sharing books, some form of reading is, and should be a included as part of training because it serves the purpose of being a useful reference document for every employee. Is it PowerPoint converted to Flash? Microsoft Word converted to Flash? Screen recorder or desktop recorder converted into Flash or.AVI or.WMV or MP4 format or other formats, with audio/video editing and recording (not all mind you offer audio/video editing). PENS was created in 2005 by AICC as a new interoperability standard.

In the authoring tool world: PowerPoint focused authoring tool, Basically you know PPT, love it and want the ability to build within it and then convert your PPT to a Course. In the AT world, knowing whether your AT accepts your specific compliance standard (SCORM, SCORM 1.2/2004, 2004, AICC, PENS, TinCan) would be equally relevant.

If I’m looking for an LMS with compliance as its horizontal, then I expect to see them offer digital signature in their system. Will the video auto convert to the highest quality possible? Do you convert the video to SCORM 1.2
