Wikis and Learning – 60 Resources

Tony Karrer

I’m involved in several discussions around how to use Wikis as part of learning solutions. So, of course, I went to eLearning Learning and I looked at Wiki , Collaborative Learning with Wikis , Wikis and eLearning 2.0 , Wikis Corporate eLearning , Social Learning with Wikis , Wiki Security and a few others. Here’s some of what I found: Why a Wiki?

I'm trying to get them to think about the question "How might you use Blogs, Wikis, Social Bookmarking, Social Networking, Collaboration Tools in your organization?" Uh oh, I just saw a post by Donald Clark slamming the use of small group breakouts during conference sessions. Update: 12/19/2007. There has been great discussion in the comments. I wanted to provide a bit more context for this.

Instructivism, constructivism or connectivism?

E-Learning Provocateur

Wikis act as non-linear knowledge banks to be mined as necessary. In a previous article , I provided the following examples of potential information sources that the learner could incorporate into their personal learning network: Social bookmarks. News feeds, podcasts, blogs, wikis and discussion forums. Social and professional networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Industry conferences and other external events. Instructivism is dead.

eLearning 2.0 Random Thoughts based on Chat

Tony Karrer

that I got from running through the chat log: How was this conference marketed? Of course, having the conference free makes it a bit easier to attract attendees. Social Bookmarking and Wikis and Blogs are a form of social networking I never said this, but several people pointed it out in the chat. The same thing can be true with social bookmarking, wikis, flickr, etc. Using social bookmarking or meme tracking works okay.

First Thoughts After ASTD Sessions

Tony Karrer

I'm on the flight back from ASTD TechKnowledge and thought I should try to capture some initial thoughts from the conference and sessions while it was still fresh and before life clouds my memory. I did two sessions and face time at the conference. It's too bad that there aren't ways to do more of this at a conference. Are there models for this that people have seen work at different kinds of conferences? Almost no one was familiar with social bookmarking.
