Social Learning Tools Should Not be Separate from Enterprise 2.0

Tony Karrer

Instead of looking at providing tightly coupled Social Learning Tools, they should instead be looking at how their offering can integrate or leverage Enterprise 2.0 This could be: SharePoint, Yammer, Confluence, etc. John Ambrose in Social Learning Will Fill Enterprise 2.0’s It’s finding content that can fill the empty drums of enterprise 2.0 I agree with John that rolling out an empty Wiki or other enterprise 2.0

Nathan at e-gineer blog summarized a beautiful case study. They will surely gain insight from this case study. Here's some good stuff: "In 2006, Janssen-Cilag completely replaced our simple, static HTML intranet with a Wiki solution.

What Factors Are Shaping the LMS Market? 2018 Learning Systems FAQ

Talented Learning

Keep in mind that I view the LMS landscape through an extended enterprise lens. And interestingly, now that volume-based SaaS licensing has energized the extended enterprise LMS market, employee training solutions are following suit. Curated Insights: Why knowledge sharing at work is a good thing

Axonify

Companies are riddled with empty enterprise social networks and poorly trafficked intranets, but they can’t figure out why. How internal blogging with Confluence created a culture of knowledge sharing at APT from Dave Pacifico. I applied a very similar (and successful) approach to enterprise knowledge sharing while with Kaplan. I particularly enjoy Cammy’s reference to “natural learning environments” as a way to put knowledge sharing into an enterprise L&D context.

With the auto-translating feature that supports over 105 languages, it is no wonder why more and more enterprises are flocking to EdApp. For example, integrating with Monday.com and Confluence would further enhance the usability of Engagedly.

Snake Oil 2.0: Lipstick on a pig

Jay Cross

Tony Karrer picked up some of the disconnects in a post entitled Social Learning Tools Should Not Be Separate from Enterprise 2.0. So, it’s perplexing to see why training yet again wants to separate itself from the enterprise and use their own set of social tools. All aboard the eLearning train: Onboarding with eFrontPro

eFront

Such an approach, combined with a powerful Learning and Talent Development platform , such as eFrontPro , will give you the best results while minimizing the expenses and logistics of the whole operation (which, for large enterprises with thousands of new hires every season, can be substantial). This is something that’s dead easy to achieve in eFrontPro, but impossible to get working on a traditional CMS , employee portal system, or something like Confluence.

How TalentLMS can help you with the onboarding process (part 1)

TalentLMS

Those, especially for large enterprises with lots of areas of business, can extend to many thousands of printed pages. This is again an area were an LMS, with its emphasis on learning as opposed to being a mere document store, has the upper hand compared to a traditional intranet portal system or something like Confluence. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Because they offer integration with products that may already be behind the firewall - Confluence and XWiki. Nice move - building integration w/ existing enterprise products - especially KM ones. So I was looking at XMind - mind mapping app - and it looks good and all but especially considering the air-tight lockdown on desktops across the federal government, I really can't even look twice at something that requires an install. I mean AIR is probably years away from approval.

CLO Competencies: The Path for Future Learning Leaders

The confluence of these factors forms a set of individual needs and organizational forces that will spawn the next generation of learning executives. For example, it was considered very important for future CLOs to have been involved in enterprise-wide projects such as improving operational performance, changing a culture, managing a high-profile campaign, improving a business process or launching a product — the experience side of the equation.

Web 2.0 Applications in Learning

Tony Karrer

eLearning Trends Enterprise 2.0Last week I presented a session at ASTD TechKnowledge entitled eLearning 2.0 - Applications and Implications. It could just as easily have been called Web 2.0 Applications in Learning. It was designed to be a small to medium size group discussion, but because the room was large it was very challenging to do that successfully. I discussed a bit of these issues in First Thoughts After ASTD Sessions.
