I’ve consulted with companies that are frustrated that video in e-learning courses doesn’t run well on their thin client computers. I’ve seen courses go all the way through quality assurance testing and pass with flying colors only to have a new browser or Flash Player plug-in come out that renders the course unusable.

I agree - I leave "designer" out - I tell people I am an instructional consultant and then let the conversation go from there. The.swf file, the exported Flash object that plays in the Flash player in your browser, has been my friend for a long time. Indeed, I’ve been using Flash for my web e-learning projects since 2009. That was Flash version 3.0. Instead, they ask: “Does training run on the company-provided laptops?”

A lot of eLearning content is at least partially Flash-based and famously mobile devices have shunned the playing of Flash content.
