Now videos can be part of all elearning content!

Adobe Captivate

Captivate also bundles the Adobe Media Encoder, allowing you to import video in any popular format, and the same is converted into FLV and placed on your slides. Worried about published file size? Captivate 5 gives you the option to either embed the video in the project, or to stream it from an external Flash streaming server of your choice. One of my favorite features this time is the new Video import and synch capability in Captivate.

CommLab India

Consider these factors while hosting training videos on an LMS : file size of the videos & compatibility, hosting charges, streaming server, and confidentiality of information. Once your training videos are ready, check their file size and compatibility with various players and browsers. Repurpose Your Content: Make a Blog Video!

Producing it means you are converting it from an editable project file format, to something universally accepted by standard video players. Our workflow typically includes saving as an MP4, which is the most common video file format, but also uploading to a hosting site. A hosting site such as Vimeo, YouTube, or Screencast.com is a good option, as video files can be difficult to send via email due to a large file size.

Adobe has posted a demo of Text to Speech in Captivate 4

Steve Howard

I wouldn’t recommend using Text to Speech this way as a habit, at least not for mobile devices, because what it does is embed an actual audio file, rather than converting the text on the fly. The sound and speech quality are both pretty good, and it sounds a lot less ‘roboty’ than your typical text to speech engine, but you may not find the relatively large file size acceptable.

PowerPoint accessibility

Clive on Learning

Although they will probably convert the PowerPoint to Flash and distribute in this way, they also want to make the PowerPoint files available for users who wish to make modifications to the materials. This must be done in Office for Windows, or you must convert it to HTML and add the alt text manually. Hearing Make sure all audio or video is captioned before you embed it into PowerPoint. Large file size may make it difficult to download a file.

Learning my (non-technical) way

Web Tools for Learners

I recruited volunteers to video each of the 3 presentations, retrieved my lovely new flip, and went home where I planned to upload each presentation to Vimeo and then embed each group's presentation on a wiki page private to them. Alternate titles for my recent learning frenzy: Feels so good after stopping banging my head against the wall. Arriving where I started and knowing the place for the first time (apologies to T. Eliot).

Tips for Adding Visuals to Your Social Media

TechSmith Camtasia

We share the videos on social media (and also embed them in the blog post), and when people click through the video, they’re taken to the TechSmith blog. To upload video captions in Facebook, you’ll need to use an.srt file. Facebook has a very particular naming scheme for.srt files, so be sure to name your file correctly, or you will not be able to upload. You can make any necessary corrections, then download the.srt file (and rename it) for use on Facebook.
