Event Recap: Learning Solutions 2015

As we anxiously wait for trees to turn green and flowers to bloom, it’s amazing to think how fast these first few months of 2015 have flown by. It has been a blur, to say the least. In January, Diane and I attended ATD TechKnowledge (check out the recap here); and most recently, several of us attended the Learning Solutions Conference & Expo the last week in March.

On the first day of the conference, Diane and Tanya presented: Creating a Budget for Your E-Learning Projects. Tanya and Diane outlined a flexible model that Tanya created to estimate the time and cost of e-learning projects.

On the second day of the conference, Nick and I presented our Top 15 Articulate Storyline Tips, Secrets, and Time-Savers. We were thrilled with the level of audience participation. For some attendees, the tips we shared resulted in jaw-dropping gasps and eye-opening amazement. We also shared a simple two-page desk reference, which you can download and print here.

On Thursday night, Diane presented a course we developed for the American Red Cross at the ever-popular DemoFest. This course (project managed by Tammi Ritter) gave policy and procedure trainers some great ideas on how to shorten courses by letting policy documents teach the policy and letting the e-learning focus on examples, practice, and application. While we didn’t win an award THIS year, you can see all the award winners in a free eLearning Guild webinar.

Learning Solutions is a particularly special conference for Artisan E-Learning. Not only do we love attending the conference, but it’s also one of the rare opportunities for us to get together and meet in-person as a company. (We work 100% remotely.) Last year, there was a total of six of us. This year, we had a total of 13! It would have been 14, but one of our employees was out attending to her new baby (congrats, Terri!).

Our company meeting this year was a blast. We celebrated our growth and put some exciting plans into motion for 2015. But it wasn’t all work; we ate tons of great food and bonded with each other while attending a fun improv class.

All in all, Learning Solutions 2015 was a week full of team building, networking, and fun. Needless to say, we’re already looking forward to next year!
