Adobe Captivate

Punk learning

Learning with 'e's

By 1977, punk music had emerged as a creative force to be reckoned with. It was a form of music that was furiously loud, aggressively energetic and full of discordant anger. To release a record you didn't have to bow and scrape to the multi-national music publishers and labels. Punk learning (some would call it Edupunk ) reflects that seventies music ethos. Cultural hegemony and disruption

Learning with 'e's

Commonly referred to as 'brainwashing' hegemony is an insidious way to indoctrinate the masses into a ' false consciousness ' where each person believes they have ultimate control of their own destiny. Mail companies are also discovering that e-mail and the cloud (and the capability to send large documents and images instantaneously for very little cost) have undermined what had previously been a very secure monopoly in the physical delivery of letters and parcels.

Diversity or conformity?

And yet standardised testing, in all its forms, is designed to capture a narrow, quantifiable image of children''s abilities. It''s like teaching students to paint one picture over and over again, at the expense of learning the art of painting. How will children know that science and art have many connections, or that music and physics have a lot on common, if the subjects are taught differently, at different times and in vastly different environments?

Once you and your organization develop a mindset for change, unconscious and reactionary decisions will slowly evolve into creative and intentional decisions. One common theme, though, is that any training or intervention is supposed to “work,” meaning it improves on-the-job performance and contributes measurably to key organizational results. Suspense, surprise and importance are often communicated with more than just words or pictures.
