The personal web

Learning with 'e's

With the Southampton PLE Conference #PLE_SOU at full throttle, I thought it would be a good time to reiterate my views on the personal web. Personal Web Tools (PWTs) are thought by some to be synonymous with PLEs (Personal Learning Environments) but the two should not be confused. Sound like a PLE? My view is that PWTs sit inside a PLE but they are not the whole story. I attempted to map these components out in a post entitled Anatomy of a PLE.

Learning with 'e's

We all learn differently. Unfortunately, most of us are products of education systems that are based on the industrial model of education which is far removed from personalised learning. It means that everyone has to try to fit in, even if the methods and environments don't meet their needs. It would be too expensive to manage a personalised education system that suited everyone's needs and preferences. The personalised learning movement continues to grow in influence.
