PLEs could be created by anyone, using just about any tool or technology, and we expanded the idea to embrace other elements such as real experiences and people (Personal Learning Networks).

Bumped into someone in an unfamiliar place, and that someone has lived a parallel life, or turns out to be personally significant in some way. It was wonderful weather, the sun was shining down, and even the infamous Wellington winds were nothing more than a gentle breeze. Don't put that ring on Dermot! We've all done it.

In the summer it is an oven, with the sun reflecting intensely off the stones and sand, and in the winter it is icy cold as the southern Antarctic winds whip across it mercilessly.
