So, when I went and checked out Saba Social, Saba’s new social learning platform, I had very low expectations. Saba Social is a very solid product, that despite a few hiccups and “huh&# moments, achieves what it sets out to do, provide a user friendly social experience. Would you want to provide any of that to customers?

What I like about conferences is the ability to see the latest products and hear the pitches from the vendors. Demonstrations are crucial, whether it is a 30 minute one, with an audience or one on one, with a potential customer. Regardless, you need to have your product out and showing.

LMS Products of the Year 2010. A lot of great products out there this year, new updates and latest versions; new companies, new services and just some real innovation. I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. The product is Flash based, which is nice, but lack of mobile optimization for the iPad. Categories.

Plateau LMS is a Talent Management System, made up of four modules. Plateau Learning. After logging into the system a pop up window appears with four option, under the title “How to Get the Most out of the Plateau TMS. You can click a check box, if you do not want the pop-up to appear the next time you log into the system.

Vendors were saying, lets “wait on those&# or “our customers are not requesting them, so we are holding off&#. Social learning? Again, our customers aren’t asking for it, so we are just doing enough to appear that we are cutting edge. Not just a few vendors, the industry as a whole.

Here are five trends that are being seen in the market, but one of these trends can cause consternation, among current customers. In a market this size, and with so many vendors overly focused on the U.S. and not necessarily worldwide (which should be the case), there is bound to be those vendors who are seeking new opportunities.
