It was a confusing challenge for me, because it offers so much capabilities and strengths, so I define it as a true social learning management system (standalone) that offers extra power for a customer to select specific apps and use them in the customer’s portal or web site or in some fashion with their own learning management system.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. In 2000, I built my own LMS for a company, and was hired to create an e-learning program for customer training, as well as run a training division with ILT still in play (blended).

Particularly, I'm interested in the question of: While training as a publisher of courses and courseware faces an increasingly challenging market, what other things can learning businesses successfully sell to internal or external customers? Anecdotally times are incredibly tough right now for training vendors. You have fixed overhead.

As social learning continues to grow, LMS/LCMS vendors are taking various approaches. LMS/LCMS vendors are following one of three approaches when it comes to social learning. Time for these vendors to wake up, or see your audience share disappear. Discussion board – enough vendors offer this and call it social learning.
