A good vendor will take that information and apply it to your demo (you want one), inquire for additional questions if needed – after they have had time to review it – post-call; and most importantly as a cornerstone to your pricing. But for some vendors, that is what it all comes down to. E-Learning 24/7.

Why LMS vendors and authoring tool ones for that matter, do not come in droves to this conference is mystifying to me. . Each time I attend there are a lot of decision makers rumbling around seeking out vendors, wanting to start communication and scheduling demos, meetings, etc. And authoring tool vendors? In Birmingham.

This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . In all the years I have attended and have known about ATD (formally ASTD), this year is by far the most in terms of e-learning vendors, especially those in the LMS space.

In the demo at their booth, they readily showed numerous avatars, and it would have been very cool to see the true synch experience – something that Storyline cannot do. Sadly, for whatever reason, the feature was not in the demo. Simply put, one vendor has over 200 Flash-based templates in their product.

This does not represent all LMSs but more than some: IE7 is no longer supported – best way to find out if you use it, ask the vendor if the salesperson doesn’t know – tell them to find out. Need to do a demo? Demo Death Trap. We all do demos. A third usual zinger is the demo script.
