Setting up a SharePoint for a community or work team is very different from teaching them about Personal Learning. This sounds a lot like a personal learning environment, personal knowledge management (PKM) and personal work and learning environment (PWLE) and PIM. They are associated by contradiction.

I've run across a few different posts talking about Personal Work and Learning Environments which I have tentatively started to call PWLE - pronounced p-whale. There's a great deal of discussion about whether or not a PLE should be a single tool or a collection of tools loosely joined. Just do it.
