Buy yourself a piece of L&D history this holiday season through Docebo’s NFT for Charity project

• 3 min read

We think it’s safe to say that 2021 was a year of significant innovation and change. To keep with that theme, we’re giving you the chance to buy yourself a truly unique holiday gift that combines our love of technological innovation. Italian food and L&D, all while contributing to a good cause.

If we’ve lost you, I’ve got three letters for you. NFT.

Yes, those NFTs. Non-fungible tokens that let you purchase and own digital works of art and other collectibles that have a place in history.

Docebo’s joining the NFT party by auctioning off three logos from the company’s early days on OpenSea. We’ll be donating 100% of the profits from that auction to three charities that are near and dear to our hearts, and align with our CSR initiative.

That covers technological innovation and L&D, but where does the Italian food reference come in?

Before Docebo was Docebo 🤌, our beta prototype was called “Spaghetti-Learning,” a name that harkens back to when our founder, Claudio Erba, was building the company from his home office in Macherio Italy in 2005. It’s a tongue-in-cheek name given to our then fledgling learning product.

“Andrea Biraghi, an early employee of Docebo and currently Head of Design, created these logos as a humorous tribute to our Italian roots,” says Claudio. “A lot has changed since then; however, our core values remain consistent. By transforming these logos into NFTs and donating the proceeds, we are embracing three of the values we’ve always had: curiosity, innovation and impact.”

The logos that are available for purchase as NFTs on OpenSea are:

Logo #1:

Spaghetti Learning Logo #1

Logo #2:

Spaghetti Learning Logo #2

Logo #3:

Spaghetti Learning Logo #2

Spaghetti-Learning was the early beta version of what would eventually become Docebo Learn and, as of this year, the Docebo Learning Suite. These logos, therefore, represent a unique piece of history in the L&D world that is now available to own.

They’re part of our story, and are a token of the nascent dreams and values that brought us to where we are today. That story needs to be shared, and we see no better way to do that than by supporting some of our favorite charities in the process.

Want to join in on the fun? Head over to the auction page now. Bidding ends on December 31, 2021.

Italian heritage, L&D and NFTs for a good cause

NFTs have soared in popularity this year, and have generated some major blockbuster sales. We’re not expecting to make CryptoPunk money off these Spaghetti-Learning sales, but we hope to see some strong competition from fans of L&D technology.

As mentioned, we’ll be donating all of our auction proceeds to these three charities:

  • Lunar Startups specialize in economic empowerment, growth, connection, and innovation for Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, women, and non-binary entrepreneurs.
  • Code to Inspire empowers young women in Afghanistan to drive economic and social progress. Code to Inspire achieves this by employing local mentors to teach code, help in finding programming jobs, and offer guidance in building digital careers and entrepreneurship.
  • Georgia-Alabama Land Trust Inc., their mission is protecting land for present and future generations, primarily through private conservation easements. Priorities include the protection of watersheds and wildlife habitat and the preservation of farmland and forests.

“We feel these three charities are the embodiment of Docebo’s own culture of caring and align perfectly with our ongoing corporate and social responsibility initiatives,” says Claudio.

“We have internal groups including Docebo Green Ambassadors, focused on our planet and environment, Docebo Pride, and Docebo Women’s Alliance, bringing the importance of diversity, equality, and inclusion to the forefront of our efforts as a company. Making an impact outside our company by auctioning off a piece of our history to help these organizations continue their amazing work, which is so important during this season of giving.”

The auction opens on December 23, 2021 and runs until December 31, 2021. You can access the auction here.

Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a unique piece of L&D history.

I don’t understand anything you just said. What’s an NFT?

If the only thing you understood in the article so far is “spaghetti,” then this section is for you. NFTs are a new concept and are a tad complicated to understand, to say the least.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what an NFT is, and why it’s cool.

In the simplest term, NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, transform digital works of art and other collectibles into one-of-a-kind, verifiable assets that are easy to trade on the blockchain. Charities and non-profits are increasingly accepting donations in various forms of cryptocurrency. Here is more information on the basics of how NFTs work.
