Standard adoption takes time (as we can see with xAPI), so if you are concerned or worried about having to go with CMI-5, etc. 1 xAPI. I as many folks constantly referred to xAPI as Tin Can, but recently say in the past month, I found out that Tin Can was a trademarked name by Rustici Software. As such, I will go with the proper term of xAPI (now and going forward). In 2015, I do expect to see an increase in the number of vendors implementing xAPI.

Docebo was one of the first vendors to offer it, and that was a while back, however, in 2017 more vendors jumped into the free content as well. Social in the works? I don’t blame them, as xAPI is proof. xAPI is still buggy IMO, which isn’t helping it.

Social as we know it – okay as most vendors see it with Twitter, FB, YouTube, Linkedin and the same ol same of discussion groups, chat isn’t next gen to me. This is a social learning platform, where the social plays into that wall of content stream I mentioned earlier (as a fast and growing trend). Oh, SCORM and xAPI too. I’d love to see more social power come out of here – so Spoke – are you listening or just talking?

Social – Learning platforms slightly lead on this, but barely, really barely. I see more than enough, whose social is super weak compared to the LMS market. However, you will find “social learning platforms”, which focus more on social and surprise, not really, less on analytics. xAPI – It’s LMS, but it is razor close. Docebo. It’s time. Two equal fighters. One the former son of the reigning champ.
