She has returned to organizing her work with sticky notes on a large storyboard. On one of my recent projects, I had a series of videos to intersperse throughout a course.

I pulled my project together yesterday in about four hours – included hammering out content, figuring out the BBP storyboard template, grabbing graphics, and learning how to use PPT beyond the basics that I know. Once you complete the outline, you publish your “headlines” to PPT. Each slide gets a unique headline.

The deliverables of this phase are: Approach Document. Documents including the following information: Understanding the requirements based on the identified training needs. A design document is created and shared with the stakeholders. The storyboard is a visual representation of the course. Training Need Analysis Report.

I put the information I’ve pulled into one document, either an action map or a Word file. This makes it easy to locate the relevant information when I write the storyboard. Other mind mapping software also lets you include documents; if you have a favorite program, please recommend it in the comments section.

Now-a-days, almost every training course has a PowerPoint (PPT). This PPT is used during class to help the trainer stay on course and to provide some information to the learner. Let’s just come out in the open and say it, Classroom PPTs should not be put online and called eLearning. Old PowerPoint decks kind-of stink.

Usually I find the PPT driven approach, due to it. Map out what you want to cover, in other words, create a mini storyboard (it can be a piece of paper or a word document or one of the items, I will list below – at the end of this post). . Tip: You enter the text in each block of your storyboard. Nothing more.
