Rapid Content Authoring Tools: Market, Mayhem and Reality

As the evolution of e-learning continues, the rapid content authoring tools (RCAT) market follows suit. This is a growing market with new vendors showing up, but at the same time, others disappearing. Templates with some learning objects? A robust learning solution of multiple capabilities and outputs? My Learning Management System features learning paths, group employees by department/unit/division, add/delete employees, etc. However, something not all vendors offer -AND THEY SHOULD – deleting the employee and their info., LMS/LCMS vendors who offer multiple systems/flavors of the systems are targeting certain company size (employee wise). E-Learning and all forms within are normally taken via your desktop computer and either hitting your company’s server with your browser or going to a hosted LMS vendor’s solution. If you wanted to work on creating content, for many people, the route would be and still is creating courses via a desktop based rapid e-learning authoring tool, or via your LMS/LCMS vendor’s tool (hosted or not) or via Dreamweaver or some other type of solution.
