I wasn’t thunderstruck, but what I was surprised at was the number of folks who had or were about to purchase the well known authoring tools in the market, Articulate, Captive and Lectora. When people think authoring tools, three products typically come to mind. It is easy to use and once you learn it, easy to push out content.

For my instructional designers and e-learning developers, they loved creating courses. Sure the courses were interactive and engaging, but I found it as fun as starring at Magic Art (actually that was fun, for about 20 minutes before a headache set in). Raptivity is an interaction tool. Its target audience is the rapid content authoring tool market, but while it tries to hit it, it also misses at many levels. Raptivity calls their product an interaction tool with templates, games, simulations, etc. According to the site the solution comes with 245 interactions.

If you wanted to work on creating content, for many people, the route would be and still is creating courses via a desktop based rapid e-learning authoring tool, or via your LMS/LCMS vendor’s tool (hosted or not) or via Dreamweaver or some other type of solution.
