A friend of mine, got a RFP template from a LMS vendor’s web site. I am not a fan of grabbing RFP templates off of vendor’s web sites, only because if you read them in detail you will start to realize that for some of the questions, it is really geared toward that vendor’s product. Always after.

If you are a vendor you are likely to see it too often and it appears when the “potential customer” sends you a RFP without ever talking to you prior to. . Or they send the RFP after a discussion, but before seeing the product. Nowadays it is easy to just send off that RFP without doing any due diligence.

Heck, how many of the leads that you fail to land via a RFP or otherwise even respond to your inquiries on why you were not selected? Your goal is to attract new customers and if you are not landing every lead, how likely are they to tell you that the reason is because the system wasn’t enticing to them?

I never did a RFP nor spent more time than necessary to find a system. Try to avoid using a RFP template. There is one vendor out there who has it and many people use it. The problem is that it contains so much information and it is geared toward that said vendor, it will be impossible for other vendors to match every item.
