Flash vs. HTML5. I am seeing many vendors still offering the ability to output screen recording and video to flash. Less vendors are offering the HTML5 output, which seems to be strange, especially as more e-learning vendors as a whole are jumping right in. E-Learning 24/7.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. Yet, a majority of vendors in the e-learning space as a whole, are just not doing it. HTML5 will be available on every one of those tablets, plus they will offer Flash (notable exception the iPad).

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. You get the Flash code – YES – you get the code, which you can do whatever you want with it. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature. Some acquisitions, some goodbyes, but overall very strong.

Remember when only a few offered the PPT to Flash option in their tools? Mobile Learning. Let’s see – what is the fastest e-learning subset ever to garner audience interest for all solutions? A couple of vendors offer SDK development tools with their SaaS authoring tool. What happened? Same thing.

Another small trend is providing advanced admin capabilities in the form of admins who have CSS, Flash,PHP or other languages. Vendors who offer mobile learning solutions, need to identify what types of Blackberrys can be used (all?), Will they support all the tablet vendors or just some? The small size vendors.

For the mobile learning space – it is a necessity. Add dropbox or something similar – I have seen this with a few vendors in the RCAT space, and it makes sense – Dropbox is hot – why not offer instantpaper capability too? HTML5 support – sorry Flash fans . M-Commerce.
