Emerging technology that has I believe the potential to do wonders in the e-learning space. Many people auto associate Kinect with Microsoft and it is understandable why that it is – i.e. Xbox. The truth of the matter though is that the technology was created in Cambridge, England and not by anyone at Microsoft.

It comes from me talking to vendors, buyers, monitoring the industry all the while taking notes and seeing the trends/patterns appear right before my eyes. What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land. E-Learning 24/7.

Microsoft Office – 20%. As for personal and professional development, it truly amazes me how many vendors in the e-learning space as a whole, forget this type of training. Personal and Professional Development – 51.4%. Technical and IT – 45.7%. Compliance – 42.8%. Sales – 25.7%.

Microsoft Live – same thing. Another vendor accepts Palm, which just a few weeks ago, HP (who now owns Palm) announced it was dropping Palm OS from its plans. A couple of vendors offer SDK development tools with their SaaS authoring tool. Keys to success will be based on the following offerings within the m-learning tool.

For the mobile learning space – it is a necessity. Kinect technology was not created at a Microsoft lab, rather it was created by a group of folks in Cambridge, England. Thus, if you are training people, you are no longer limited to using a mobile device with a camera, nor having to rely on geolocation – a big win.
