If I have those skill sets, why would I want to be an administrator of a LMS, when I could work free-lance or in some other programming capacity? I dont do any programming. I think my dinosaur status as an instructional designer stems from the fact that Ive always worked for e-Learning vendors where the programming, graphics, and ID are distinct, separate job roles. I think Im somewhat of an anomaly in the field. I dont build courses.

Theres nothing in ADDIE about learning objects or the presentation of information. Most e-Learning vendors mention ADDIE or some form thereof on their websites as if it was a real science about creating effective learning. I dont think ADDIE and Gagne are really in the same class.

Unless their is some group component here or the psuedo Facebook angle, I see no real gain. I know Totara is going to say that the product is built on open source and the folks who are buying it know the technical aspects/Moodle and thus this isn’t an issue. The A/V is Clam (open source) but still solid. .
