I’m not sure if it is going to take a predication by the late Edgar Cayce or Nostradamus to see the need to have native apps for people to download with the numerous m-learning, Mac store or Windows 8. Of those, it was extremely rare to find vendors who publicly offered this option.

I shot off the usual reasons, the benefits, the gains and then found myself expanding into the next possibilities of where a system and content authoring tool had to go. For vendors, they could make it happen and generate revenue. Even with slideshare, you can actually post e-books and other documents, so it follows suit in a system.

In the webinar, I brought up how LMS vendors were themselves perpetuating the myth of the bad things of social media (which is a necessary component of social learning), so, rather than identify the facts and data to potential clients who are concerned about social media and thus social learning, they instead do not include it in their system.

Functionality exists in the system because I mentioned the key items you were seeking and maybe I show it briefly. The vendor said they had gamification and it was extensive.

However, a CMS as a backbone combined with other tools for a Learning Portal is a real winner IMO and a CMS combined with social media caps and/or with open source scripts as a backbone to a Learning Portal is an equal winner. Personally, I like a filter system on the back end. E-Learning 24/7.
