Does Your Custom E-learning Vendor Cater to Your Product Sales Training Needs?

CommLab India

Finding an eLearning vendor who can take care of your product training needs is a task in itself, because when you begin to explore the eLearning market, you will find dozens who will claim to know just what you need, but just a handful really know what you need and how to deliver it.

Working with E-Learning Vendors: The RFP

E-learning Uncovered

The RFI and RFP are the two primary tools you can use to select which vendor from a group is the best one to meet your needs. RFPs are formal documents written to vendors that specifically list what you want and help the vendor provide a specific, binding proposal. They can help you make apples-to-apples comparisons of possible vendors. Since an RFP asks for a specific, binding proposal you will want to give enough detail so the vendor can respond accurately.

E-learning Uncovered

The selection of an e-learning vendor can seem challenging. Maybe you don’t know what vendors can provide the exact product or service you need, or it might be that you aren’t even sure WHAT you need. My next few blog posts will give some tips I have found for selecting and working with vendors. First, let’s focus on how to get the information you need from a vendor using a Request for Information (RFI).

Product Review: Knoodle

eLearning 24-7

Confusing once you dive into the product – see below. Problems abound within the product – not bugs mind you, just poor processes (IMO). One of the features I do love about the product is the ability to drag and drop – yet this is the only screen you can do it from.

Product Review: Lectora Snap! Empower

eLearning 24-7

interfaces directly with the product (ribbon? is not the only product which has an issue with a 64 bit Windows computer but in combination with PPT 2010, I’m unaware of any other. When I looked at the product, I immediately thought on the song by Snap – called Power!

Product Review: Saba Social

eLearning 24-7

So, when I went and checked out Saba Social, Saba’s new social learning platform, I had very low expectations. Saba Social is a very solid product, that despite a few hiccups and “huh&# moments, achieves what it sets out to do, provide a user friendly social experience.

Product Review Raptivity

eLearning 24-7

Product: Raptivity. Don’t get me wrong, this is a product that offers some really great features, but it constant pitching within the product to upsell, becomes irritating, so much so, I can easily see someone blasting the product into recycle bin space.

Product Review: Litmos LMS

eLearning 24-7

Less functionality and features than their standard counterparts, but these features may be “social learning&# , or “ability to tie a user to a course&# or “creating learning paths for each user&# or “assessment tools&# , etc. Vendor: Litmos.

Product Review: EasyGenerator Rapid Content Authoring Tool

eLearning 24-7

Vendor can create a component so you can push directly into your LMS, without having to upload it directly (extra cost). The result of course, is you do not want to do anything, which is sad considering the robustness of ease of use of the product. . E-Learning 24/7.

Product Review: Articulate Storyline

eLearning 24-7

For my instructional designers and e-learning developers, they loved creating courses. Layers and Conditions – if you have experience with Photoshop or similar products that use layers, then your learning curve is less. If you like interactions, features and lots of capabilities – you will love this product. Learn more – great idea, but they failed at this too (more in a sec). Main reason IMO, that the product is desktop.

Product Review: Mindflash.com

eLearning 24-7

The product continues to add new features that overall are surprisingly solid. However, they continue to incorporate some instructor led training components, which is a disservice to an otherwise nice product. E-mail specific slides to subject matter experts for review. E-Mail notifications and reminders. Terms “trainer” and “trainee” – these are instructor led terms, not e-learning. Send someone via e-mail the preview.

Product Review: GeoLearning GeoMaestro

eLearning 24-7

Social Learning standard features – Lame. Social Learning add on module – Not a lot for what you get at an additional cost. It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement. Why vendors still think this is not needed or used, makes no sense. This is only an add on option, so if you have another vendor you use, you can without having to purchase the Lectora option.

Product Review: Mindflash.com

eLearning 24-7

What I found was a solution that is a rapid e-learning authoring tool that offers easy to use functions as uploading learners and basic tracking results. The system provides an assessment tool that is built-in within the product. The program had three areas of real concern to me, okay – really bothered me and from an e-learning perspective it is just hard to figure out why they would want to do this. Name and e-mail address is not. E-Learning.

Product Review: SoftChalk 6 – Rapid Content Authoring Tool

eLearning 24-7

While I had some exciting expectations when I jumped into the product, by the end of it all, I felt drained. Easy to insert and delete learning objects. So, even if the second learning object or text has nothing to do with the activity it is connected. One of the irritants with RCATs and frankly many e-learning vendors in assessment and other groups, is that you have no idea what image format is acceptable, until you go into the select image function.
