Most systems in the education space are still strongly focused on synchronous based learning. Thankfully there are systems that are starting to offer asynchronous as well (referring to systems that are not universal, rather education market only). SaaS – I would prefer a vendor who offers SaaS only and not a SaaS or client hosted or G-D forbid client hosted only option. Its a hybrid of a learning platform, learning exchange and social collaboration.

The partner approach works this way: vendor A integrates Vendor B’s solution into their product. Some times, it is nothing more than a link – hidden from the end user – the screen shows a popup or goes to the “page” but in reality the end user is now in the other vendor’s solution. Back in the day, a punk rock group called Madness released a wonderful tune called, “ One Step Beyond “, sadily if you were to look at the state of the e-learning industry as a whole today, perhaps the song should have been called, “One Step Behind&#.
