I have a real issue with vendors who charge extra – via a license with their “partner&# or otherwise for a web conferencing – and thus ability to offer webinars, in their solution. Ekiga – VOIP and Web Conferencing, HD Quality – nice! It is VOIP, but the people on the other side, do not need VOIP.

My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. via VOIP, mobile, telephone, etc. Some have ads, which can be a downer for some folks, others require the person to either use VOIP or call in with a non toll free number. . Lots of potential.

What always stuns me are vendors who state they know what their learners want, but in reality have no clue, because they themselves do not see the technology and its usage among the masses. The growing number of businesses leaving Microsoft Outlook to Internet e-mail is amazing. A new audience for e-learning, courtesy of e-readers.

If the presenter is using VOIP, then audio is recorded during the presentation, because the audio is coming through the computer’s speakers. Most systems do not record the audio from attendees, even if they are using VOIP, but some do. Even in that case, again, some systems have an option that it is not recorded. Transcript Time.

Web conferercing continues to be hot, but it is not as easy as just selecting vendor x or y, rather to find the best solution, it is important to identify certain items and features before moving forward. . For the vendors who offer this option, they go about it in a couple of ways. Rule of thumb. and another seminar at 9 a.m.

LMS/LCMS vendors are notorious for offering the amazing “module&# in their marketing and advertising pitches – whether it is on their web site, at trade shows, white papers, e-mail marketing, whatever. Now, we are talking about your base LMS, not their super duper LMS (if they offer such – and not all vendors do).
