Webinar: The Future of Modern Slavery Reporting in Australia

Following the success of our previous collaboration, GRC Solutions and FairSupply delivered their first webinar of 2023, titled:

The Future of Modern Slavery Reporting in Australia.

The review of Australia’s Modern Slavery Act is drawing to a close in the coming months. The review has focused on assessing what steps may be necessary to improve the Act’s operation and compliance.

Kimberly Randle, founder and CEO of FairSupply, is an experienced and innovative human rights advocate specialising in modern slavery. Kimberly has over 15 years experience working in law and human rights for top tier firms in Australia and the United States, previously holding the role of Senior Director of Corporate and Legal for International Justice Mission Australia. Kimberly is a sought-after expert and speaker in the field of modern slavery and has been called upon to provide evidence for both the NSW and Commonwealth Parliamentary Inquiries into Human Trafficking.

and Serena Grant, head of business engagement at Walk Free

Serena Grant is the head of business engagement at Walk Free, Minderorr Foundations, Australia, working closely with business, investors and governments to address modern slavery in supply chains. Serena also advises on Minderoo’s impact investment fund and serves on the Board of Directors for FairSupply. Serena has previously worked as a corporate lawyer in London, Sydney and Tokyo and most recently as a Director at the Thomson Reuters Foundation in London.

The session was chaired by Julian Fenwick, who is the Managing Director and founder of Governance Risk & Compliance Solutions, a leading online compliance training company in the APAC region.

This two-module course covers what modern slavery is, its prevalence in supply chains, and how its use can most effectively be prevented by organisations. Both modules contain practical scenarios relating to issues affecting organisations with modern slavery in their supply chains.

This course adds an Australia-specific module to the non-jurisdictional version. This module covers the scope and application of the Australia-wide modern slavery legislation. This legislation applies to businesses operating in Australia which have an annual consolidated revenue of $100 million or more. it covers

  • Which entities are subject to the Australia-wide modern slavery laws
  • The scope of the modern slavery reporting requirement
  • Why organisations need to prepare modern slavery statements
  • Material to be included in modern slavery statements

Modern Slavery Awareness

This training is an express, 10 minute variant of our three-module Modern Slavery – Australia and non-jurisdictional courses. It is designed to equip your front line staff with general awareness surrounding modern slavery.

It is also suitable for volunteers, contractors and students.
