Dense eLearning Isn’t Smart

Association eLearning

“It was too much all at once. I was overwhelmed.” That’s not something you want to see in the feedback for your association’s eLearning. Luckily, there are ways to make eLearning more digestible, regardless of the subject matter. Managing content density is the key. What is Density? In essence, density is how much “stuff” is packed into a given space.

Course Review Tracking Template

Experiencing eLearning

How do you track revision comments in your e-learning or online courses? Most of the time, I use a spreadsheet based on the revision tracking template below. My spreadsheet includes a formula to automatically add the page title once reviewers enter the module and page number. That makes it easier for reviewers. However, if I don’t have visible page numbers (either directly on the slide or in a table of contents), I remove the formula and ask reviewers to type the page title or description.

Stop Relying on Training for Employee Learning

The Performance Improvement Blog

Formal training continues to take up too much of organizational resources. Formal, event-based training (courses, workshops, seminars, MOOCs) has a place in corporate learning but only a small place and only for employee learning that can’t be achieved in other, more timely, less costly, and more effective ways. This is because formal training (referred to as " push " learning), regardless of how well it is delivered to employees, is limited in its impact: Learning is not retained.
