Technology Tips: Make Your Droid Battery Last Longer

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

by AJ George I was ecstatic to trade in my archaic Palm 700 for a sexy new HTC Evo. I was even more excited when a friend of mine pointed out that my new toy had a kickstand (HOW HAD I NOT NOTICED THAT?!). My enthusiasm, however, was a bit dampened when I realized I'd traded in an old clunker (one that could barely hold a charge) for a shiny new speed monster--that still couldn't hold a charge.

What’s Your Experience? ID Degree or Certificate Program

Learning Visions

A lot of people write to me asking for advice on how to break into the ID field or where to go get themselves a fancy graduate ID degree. As a non-formally schooled ID, I can’t really help with this last question other than some vague direction. (For part one of the question – well…I’ll come back to that another day). So – to those of you who do have a degree or a certificate would you be willing to tell us your story?

We Teach as We are Taught

"Hey ya'll": Informal Language is the way to go in E-Learning

Kapp Notes

There is research evidence to indicate that informal language in an e-learning module is more effective than formal language. In Ruth Clark's book " e-Learning and the Science of Instruction " she discussed a study by Moreno and Mayer, 2000 that compared a formally worded course with one that was more informally worded. In the study students who learned with text that was more informal and personal (for example, used the word "you" or "I") produced 20% to 46% more solutions to a transfer problem

Using eLearning in a Blended Approach

Integrated Learnings

By Shelley A. Gable. In listing the benefits of eLearning, training folks often cite its flexibility – it’s available on-demand, allows learners to progress at their own pace, is easily deployed to a geographically dispersed audience, etc. eLearning’s flexibility can be especially handy when it’s included as part of a blended learning approach. Below are a few ways I’ve seen eLearning used to complement other delivery methods in projects I’ve worked on. -1- Pre-work for instructor-led training.

What people know about how (their own) cognitive processes operate is termed metacognition (cognition about cognitive processes). Writing & Grammar: Introducing an Acronym

One of those times is when the name is a possessive: The conference is being held at University of Maryland Baltimore Campus's (UMBC's) main hall.
