Mercenary Rationale for Network Work & Learning As I discussed in Evaluating Performance of Concept Workers , evaluating the performance of a concept worker is difficult because there's no right answer and most often the evaluator knows less about the subject than the worker. This is why I say that Leveraging Networks is Key Skill.

I’ve been using Twitter for a number of weeks now, and that, combined with several recent social networking activities prompted this reflection. I find blogging personally beneficial to cause me to take time to reflect, and that’s one of the best investments you can make in effectiveness.

Our main goal of using social media was to improve networking and aim for real collaboration between participants to take off. We managed to let people connect beforehand through a platform (ning ) and afterwards link participants to other networks or initiatives (like the outcome mapping community ). Connect to those groups.

I'm actively engaged in all kinds of sites that can be roughly described as social networking. Through this, and because of my My LinkedIn Open Connection Approach where I basically treat LinkedIn like a really big business mixer, I have lots of opportunity to "meet" new people online.

In terms of finding people with experience on this, my first suggestion was using LinkedIn and particularly looking through LinkedIn Guide for Knowledge Workers , LinkedIn for Finding Expertise , and Searching for Expertise - LinkedIn Answers. This is in process. I’ll also reach out via twitter.
