I looked at a couple examples this recently in LinkedIn for Finding Expertise and Searching for Expertise - LinkedIn Answers This topic came up again in a discussion - Blogging to ask for Help - Colin asked: If you need input from like-minded people around the world, where's the best place to ask? Is there a more effective way to approach this kind of problem? My post New Work is about changes in work skills.

Through this, and because of my My LinkedIn Open Connection Approach where I basically treat LinkedIn like a really big business mixer, I have lots of opportunity to "meet" new people online. I'm writing this post to encourage you to: Spend a little bit of time to create a reasonable profile photo Attach it to every online profile when you create it And when I say every, I mean every – don't join that new Ning group without attaching your photo.

Success Formula for Discussion Forums in Financial Services

Tony Karrer

In terms of finding people with experience on this, my first suggestion was using LinkedIn and particularly looking through LinkedIn Guide for Knowledge Workers , LinkedIn for Finding Expertise , and Searching for Expertise - LinkedIn Answers. I received a question this week related to Discussion Forums for Knowledge Sharing at Capital City Bank : I successfully launched a discussion forum for a small group of lending assistants within my bank.

Jay, I agree that it is extremely hard to define effective learning experiences in a chaotic world. Social Learning Design Revisited What's also interesting about this is that Michele, Harold Jarche and I went through the whole design of the Work Literacy Ning learning event and had several discussions about how the nature of the social learning environment might feel uncomfortable to many of the participants.

Teaching the Social Web

eLearning Development

I’ve seen discussions and blog posts about appropriate use of social tools like Facebook , Twitter , LinkedIn and FriendFeed in the workplace. Are usage guidelines effectively defined? It’s shifting to be more proactive, e.g. how do we build social learning tools our employees can use effectively? But are the foundations for responsible and effective use being laid at the right age?
