Adobe’s CS4 suite is the second major release since Adobe acquired Macromedia. If you have been bugged by previous Flash versions not allowing you to publish for latest Flash Player there is some relief here. Flash CS4 allows us to finally publish SWF files for Flash Player 10 - the latest version of Flash Player.

A product called Macromedia Flash (being used with web sites) became a go to for course development. As a result, you have to have really two versions of the same course with a browser sniffer, so those using IE as a browser went to the version without Java, and those using Netscape went to the version with Java.

You can build templates and themes and share these between projects and developers. Michael was, of course, the creator of Authorware, a highly powerful tool from the CD-ROM era, which Adobe eventually gave up on after they inherited it from Macromedia. I've no idea what the professional and enterprise versions will cost.

One thing I used to hear quite a bit from brand new users of Adobe Captivate was that it was fairly difficult to get started and many times I heard that once they started their first project, staring at the blank slide canvas was intimidating. Articulate made sure this wouldn’t happen with Storyline. But that’s just the beginning.

Over the last ten years or so, major elearning developers have preferred to use tools like Flash, Authorware and Director from Adobe (earlier Macromedia). Creating animation is also quite complicated as one has to code time slots and animation effects parameters manually into the XAML file. Elearning development tools: only Adobe?
