Learning should always come before technology. Ideas range from games based learning , to the use of social media and networking, to simpler approaches such as the use of digital cameras in art or data logging in science. It gets in the way of learning instead of facilitating it.

Interactions can be managed around a specific hashtag related to the course, or can be private between the tutor and students using the Direct Message (DM) option. I have used these to great effect with smaller groups to enable them to document and share their progress during project work.
