Making a crappy instructor-led course into an effective e-learning course is a long and difficult process. Tools for creating interactive tutorials (the bulk) as opposed to those that specialise in producing assessments ( QuestionMark ), 3D games (Caspian's Thinking Worlds ), software simulations (Captivate, Qarbon ViewletBuilder , Camtasia ) and scenarios ( RapideL Discover , Captivate). Two situations recently have got me thinking about e-learning authoring tools.
