How To Communicate The Value Of Social Media

The eLearning Coach

How do I communicate the value of social media as a learning tool to my organization? Identifying the IT social media users and doing some initial legwork for them could help. This important resource is a rather convincing testament to the ways people learn through social media.

First Thoughts After ASTD Sessions

Tony Karrer

The first session was an Introduction to eLearning 2.0. The slides were similar to eLearning 2.0 Almost no one was familiar with social bookmarking. I tried to go all the way from the overall landscape to individual tools back to the new landscape that is eLearning 2.0. The Second Session was intended to be a discussion session that was eLearning 2.0 - Applications and Implications - a follow-up to the first session.

Training Design

Tony Karrer

Back in 2005, 2006 and 2007, I would regularly show the following slides to help explain the heart of what Training Design is all about and how it has changed over the years. My sense is that we may need a new picture because of eLearning 2.0.

Models for Learning Questions

Tony Karrer

We wrapped up our free elearning webinar on Models for Learning in a New World. I described some common eLearning 2.0 patterns that are emerging much along the lines of my previous post Examples of eLearning 2.0. Yammer (internal twittering) is almost impossible to explain to someone who has no experience with any social networking (and probably not with anything more than email lists). Many of the suggestions in Learning 2.0

Personal Publishing - Balance of Blog vs. PPT+Audio – Help Needed

Tony Karrer

Jesse saw a post where I pointed to slides from a recent presentation and he commented: A PPT slide deck is a horrible way to convey anything significant. How about a link to audio, or better yet something like an Articulate Presenter or Breeze presentation that combines the audio and the slide deck? I would very much be interested in what you had to say in your presentation, but a PDF of the slide deck doesn't do much for me. Yet, here I am posting my slides.

Web 2.0 Applications in Learning

Tony Karrer

Last week I presented a session at ASTD TechKnowledge entitled eLearning 2.0 - Applications and Implications. It could just as easily have been called Web 2.0 I've embedded all the content from the slides. This is something that gets discussed as emergent: see Emergent Knowledge Management , Direction of eLearning - Emergence or Big System , and Future Platforms for eLearning. I discussed my experience from Collaborative Learning Using Web 2.0
