Rapid eLearning Through Software Simulations And Screencasts

Upside Learning

Previously when I discussed freeform and template-based rapid content authoring tools, I kept software simulation tools aside. The main reason was that such simulation tools are not always used for developing just any type of learning but focused on training content creation for a specific software application or system. The software simulation in turn, can be divided into screen capturing tools and interactive simulation development tools.

eLEARNING DEVELOPMENT: How Much Time Does It Take to Create eLearning?

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

One of the more common questions that I get from new eLearning developers is how much time does will take to produce published content. For instance, which eLearning tool are you going to use?   Here's another factor: how many minutes of eLearning playtime are you looking to produce? In my experience, it will take you approximately 2 hours of labor to produce 1 minute of eLearning playtime if you use Captivate or Storyline.

Expectations From eLearning Authoring Tools

Rapid Authoring Tools For Creating mLearning

Upside Learning

There is still a lack of standardization across devices and amongst networks across geographical areas resulting in mlearning content development being somewhat constrained. Before beginning to develop mLearning on their own, they should keep in mind some technical considerations.

eLearning: More Reflection

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

by Kevin Siegel      Last week I wrote about how you can use  Reflector to create software simulations and demonstrations  from your mobile device. I received emails from several people who, having read the article, downloaded Reflector and attempted to create a simulation using Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline. Continue this process over and over until you have completed all of the processes you wish to simulate on the mobile device.

eLearning: When Should You Record Your Voiceover Audio?

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

by Kevin Siegel      Adding voiceover audio to eLearning enhances the learner experience. I've been creating eLearning for years (and years and years). If you're creating a software demonstration or interactive simulation, should the audio be recorded while you're recording the screen actions? I was trying to create quick video demos to share with fellow eLearning developers. What tools do you use for audio?

eLearning: Playbar or No Playbar? Let the Debate Begin

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

All of the top eLearning development tools (Articulate Storyline, Articulate Presenter, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Presenter, and TechSmith Camtasia Studio) allow you to control the appearance of the playbar. In addition, each of the tools can accomplish the suggestions outlined below. In some instances, the option I discuss isn't easy to find in a particular tool. Should you include a playbar in your eLearning lessons?

New 1-Hour Live, Online Course: Microsoft PowerPoint to eLearning via Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, or Presenter

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

If you intend to create an eLearning course, it’s a good bet that you’re going to start the development process in Microsoft PowerPoint. However, PowerPoint is missing some key eLearning features to allow you to output finished eLearning content. For instance, PowerPoint cannot create software simulations or video demos. While in those tools, you’ll add the necessary eLearning features and then publish your content.

Rapid Authoring – Freeform Vs Template Based

Upside Learning

While working on rapid authored courses (courses authored using rapid authoring tools), I often encounter the decision point of whether to use freeform rapid authoring tools or the traditional template-based tools. To focus more on rapidly authored eLearning content, I am excluding the screen recording tools which are mainly used for software simulation type of courses. First, let’s look at template-based tools.

ADOBE CAPTIVATE & GOANIMATE: Sharing Voices Is Quick and Easy

At a certain point, the lesson zooms in on a character’s computer screen, and suddenly a software simulation starts in Adobe Captivate. So does the Export tool in the Library.). At the end of the Captivate software simulation, you see the animated character again, still talking in that same voice.
