LMSs that went to a whole new level GeoLearning – had a version that, on the user side, enabled you to have, say, not just your logo behind a desk – it was 3D the UI version, but also the carpet (colors all matched yours – now that is white-label). They noted that one of the widgets (which can be changed), is in this area.

The interface you showed was similar in many ways to the old GeoLearning 3D look back in 2002 (which Geo eventually dumped – too bad). One of my favorite early vendors was GeoLearning. If you wanted assigned learning, yes, they offered that, but nobody was forced to select only that option. If you wanted self-paced learning, congrats they offered it as well. I had a bookstore (aka library) where folks could view, and download courses or other types of content.

On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. SumTotal – As for their system as a whole, the new UI for the learning side – is a major improvement over what was previously their UI. At one time Geo was a dominate player in mid size.

GeoLearning’s Maestro product is now called SumTotal Maestro. These guys are always leaders in the authoring tool space, and their mLearning studio rocks – IMO. Learn.com is now called Taleo. Plateau is now called SuccessFactors. LMS Demo Shop. Vendors can post a demo of their LMS, up to five minutes in length.

Geolearning (may they rest in piece) was the first vendor to have a “gallery” whereas you can have sponsors images if you will on a wall, like an art gallery. They were also the first ones to have geolocation and voice enabled capabilities in their mobile app. Awesome for associations or B2B/B2C. .

SumTotal ruined IMO the GeoLearning LMS known as Maestro and will Skillsoft buying SumTotal, I wondered to myself whether this would be great or awful. One of those big problems for me is the UX (user experience), the other is while they have updated the UI, it takes more than making it modern, to make it good.
