Social Bookmarking and Wikis and Blogs are a form of social networking I never said this, but several people pointed it out in the chat. I certainly talk about a big part of the value of blogs being building a network.

I've basically limited myself to eLearningGuild and ASTD conferences. And if you are talking Reusable Learning Objects, Courseware Templates, Tracking Mechanisms, Content Management, etc. Instead, I now need to get smart on things like community, networks, personal knowledge management and other such topics. Still not sure.

The eLearningGuild has been doing this for years with monthly, for-fee online conferences structured around particular topics. Part of the reason that the eLearningGuild structures their online conferences to be similar to in-person conferences to make it more obvious that it's similar and thus is worth the money.
