Podcast 26: How to Extend Learning Content Availability – With Troy Gorostiza

Talented Learning

Troy is a “triple threat” learning innovator with deep expertise as a content development practitioner, solutions consultant and technology vendor. You embed a video link and the video works just fine. It doesn’t address updates, reporting or licensing. And then you would have to manage updates, reporting and licensing on a course-by-course and update-by-update basis? This is when you specify licensing parameters.

18 Top Learning Systems Trends to Watch in 2018

Talented Learning

As fiercely independent learning technology analysts, we think a trend isn’t just a fleeting idea that comes and goes like fashion, or a social media hashtag. A trend should matter to any buyer, seller or user of learning technology who wants to make ongoing, intelligent and informed choices. It directly affects learning technology buyers and sellers. Almost daily, new learning technology developers contact us to introduce themselves. 16 Licensing Levels Rise.

Lessons to be learnt

Learning with 'e's

The group had been tasked to consider strategies about how they might embed a new technology into their primary school lessons. The question from the student was 'what can we learn from the introduction of previous technologies in history?' I immediately thought of failed technologies, and in particular, the Sinclair C5 electric car (actually a tricycle). In a 2013 poll it was voted the worst innovation disaster in modern history. How Do Associations Drive Lifelong Learning? It Depends

Talented Learning

Rely heavily on an LMS as a foundation for their learning technology stack. Our members are state-licensed doctors with board certifications they must maintain. And because our members are busy medical practitioners, we aim to provide learning experiences that are innovative and engaging. But we embed specific questions about the course content and encourage learners to see what other learners have posted and respond.

How will content discovery evolve?

CLO Magazine

Employees can access thousands of courses through licenses with content companies. While all of this sounds great, it’s very new technology. The fourth approach to discovery is far more innovative and powerful. But the technology is new and yet to be perfected.

2014 - the year of the wearable?

Learning with 'e's

Wearable computing is just one small step up from mobile technology. Will 2014 be the year when wearable technology emerges as the next stage in our connected future? In the January 2014 issue of Wired Magazine , he argues that whilst the last decade has been about smart mobile technologies, the next decade will be about wearable computing. Hammersley is convinced that it isn''t the technology - the gadget - that is the driving force of this transition.

Learning Analytics: Big Demand, But Bigger Challenges?

Talented Learning

The answer seems at least partially linked to a lack of sophisticated technology. As a McKinsey report says, “The real power comes from adoption…when organizations embed analytics in the operating models…and day-to-day workflows.” Many learning organizations say analytics software is cost-prohibitive because the upfront licensing expense is too high, or they must invest too heavily in user training – or both. How Can Analytics Innovation Help?

Learners as producers

Learning with 'e's

They have the tools, they own the technology, and they have the confidence to use them, not only informally, but increasingly in formal learning contexts. Teachers won''t be redundant in the new technology rich learning economy, but they will need to adapt as conditions change, becoming guides and mentors rather than instructors. They have unprecedented access to a large array of new technologies. Unported License.

6) What are the most innovative uses of technology in education (that you have done yourself, or have seen)? The best use of technology that I have seen is from my teacher training as part of the ICT specialism to my degree. Once our school’s technology is updated/ fully functioning I would love to embed all of these things back into my classroom, but it definitely is difficult in such budget stretched times. Is Your RFP Response On Point? Tips for Learning Systems Vendors

Talented Learning

What kind of value do you place on your technology and services? I recently reviewed a global rollout proposal with license pricing of about $250,000, and a disproportionately low implementation cost of only about $35,000. Do you want to raise doubts about whether your technology and features are ahead-of-the-curve? No changes to LMS security measures, disaster recovery or technology infrastructure?

Philosophy, pedagogy and practice

Learning with 'e's

Following on from my recent post on innovative teaching , here is another question from teachers about the use of ICT in schools, and the underlying pedagogies: Is learning in an ICT-based environment characterised by a unique pedagogy - for example by a student centred pedagogy while the teacher serves as a guide who mediates learning using a variety of technological tools? It follows that teachers who incorporate technology into their lessons can adopt any number of approaches.

What is innovative teaching?

Learning with 'e's

I've fielded a lot of questions recently, during panels discussions and presentations about technology supported learning. Here's the first: What factors determine innovative teaching, with or without technology? This is not too a difficult question to address, because innovative teaching is good whether or not technology is used. A bad teacher does not suddenly become a good teacher just because technology is included into the mix. Unported License.
