3D printing or Additive Manufacturing is evolving rapidly and we don''t yet know of all the emerging possibilities. 3D-printed, low cost prosthetic limbs will bring the smile back on many faces. What will emerge is a network of diverse and connected workers skilled at PKM learning together to develop skills they can apply to their work. But I see this as an emerging trend. I am not the kind to crystal gaze. I lay no claim to being able to predict the future.

The availability of cost-effective resources to facilitate wide collaboration (including open source software that enables wikis, discussion groups, chat and even web conferencing) presents the chance for organizations to reconsider the effectiveness of the performance support being offered to their people. Mobile learning sub-disciplines will begin to emerge. Instead, my belief is that the discussion will be much more around rapid, low-cost content creation.
