1,000 is the magic number for a lot of vendors. There are vendors that unless you have a minimum of 1,000 end-users (regardless if they are employees, customers, etc.) I know of vendors who will go below 1,000, but their “sweet spot”, the number they really would prefer is a minimum of 1,000. Is 500 to 999 an option?

Many are affiliated marketing links – this is where a vendor sets up an affiliate program, and folks who are affiliates make money, when you click the link on their site to go to the vendor’s site. If you are large enterprise (25,000 plus) you get a couple of additional features, not enough to scream yowsa, but you do have the ability to buy the add-on domo which is a BI tool. The whole mapping thing for job roles is a bit on the funky side for me – its an extra cost, and again targeted more so for large enterprise. .

A funny thing happened on the way to using GPT-4 last week, which I suspect that the vendors who have implemented GPT-4 and are using it as a statement/Q and A to the learners were not paying attention to. Turbo, which many vendors use that have OpenAI. Microsoft is not the only vendor that offers copilots.

It was clear that not even LXP vendors (as a whole) knew – which explained why they targeted L&D, ignoring the other monster in the room, training. On top of all that, the LXP vendors (as a whole) pushed a false pretense that the LXP was vastly different than say an LMS. One of my favorite early vendors was GeoLearning.

And interestingly, now that volume-based SaaS licensing has energized the extended enterprise LMS market, employee training solutions are following suit.
