Im just about to kickoff a new project with a manufacturing organization to produce some custom courses. Im gonna call them an "immature e-Learning organization." He was venting about Kirkpatrick evaluations. So thats a vision of the future of e-Learning. Thats mature e-Learning. They seem to want page-turners, more or less.

Evaluation complete. The more I get into this field the more I realize how big a problem (if you can call it that) it is to create the right learning for the student, but still appease the person thats ultimately paying you. Im interested to see what responses you might get. Im interested to see what responses Ill get as well.

Evaluation and grading at both the individual and the group level can be used to promote this kind of dual accountability, but care should be taken so that personal progress is not just a matter of independent work, but is also tied with the group’s progress as a whole.

Im either sitting at a table or I am on a conference call with a client group and we congratulate ourselves on coming up with a really solid plan for a new eLearning project. It is about selling solutions to problems, and, oh, by the way, this will be accomplished via eLearning. In the end, it is not about "selling" eLearning at all.
